BOREAL, Hugo Verlinde

Behavioural installation - Living Art, 2010, France

"Boreal" Hugo VerlindeLike the wonderful lights that can sometimes be seen in the polar regions, Boréal reveals the intense activity of an invisible sun. A celestial object both discreet and protective, the installation is sensitive to the nature and quality of our presence. There is a thin line between the remote and the intimate… Boréal aspires to make us the recipient of its light. We are all potentially the vehicle of its desire to exist and spread itself throughout the world.

Hugo Verlinde is a visual and digital artist. Involved in the French experimental film movement in the late 90s, his films and installations have been shown in Europe, Asia and North America. This artistic recognition was facilitated by initiatives from the Cinémathèque Française and by the development and success of festivals and events dedicated to films made by visual artists.
