By investigating the spatial awareness of fluctuations that emerge from vibrational phenomena, Anharmonium takes spectators to an original meditative space, a kind of psycho-physical observatory. Infrasonic and ultrasonic transducers, designed especially for the installation, transform water into a fluid able to react to sound. Only a limited range of these sounds are audible and the acoustic modulations are processed and diffused as a spatialised generative composition via a 4.1 configuration. Laser beams and high-power LEDs, reflected and refracted by the water’s kinetic surface, intertwine in a magnified projection that enfolds the observer.
TeZ, an Italian multimedia artist and producer, lives and works in Amsterdam (Netherlands). His work explores synaesthesia and the relationship between sound and images, light and space. In his installations and performances, he uses custom developed software and original techniques to generate spatialised audiovisual compositions. In 2006, TeZ launched Optofonica – an international platform for visual synaesthesia and sound spatialisation – which is currently active in Amsterdam as a “Laboratory for the Art-Science relationship”, in collaboration with Evelina Domnitch, Dmitry Gelfand and Sonia Cillari.
